Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

Ben Stimpson, Jr. serves as commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, appointed by Governor Kay Ivey effective October 1, 2026.

The former director of corporate operations for Scotch Gulf and Canfor Southern Pine, Stimpson brings experience in business leadership and conservation. He previously served on the Conservation Advisory Board and chaired the Alabama State Port Authority in 2023. His board service also includes the Alabama Wildlife Federation and Southeastern Lumberman’s Manufacturers Association.
