Governor Ivey Keeps Rebuild Alabama Momentum Moving with $3.8 Million for Local Road Projects

MONTGOMERY – Governor Kay Ivey on Wednesday announced that more than $3.8 million in state funding is being awarded to cities and counties for 13 road projects across Alabama, highlighting her ongoing commitment to enhancing Alabama’s infrastructure.

The grants are the final round of funding made available this year under the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Annual Grant Program, created by the Rebuild Alabama Act. Two previous rounds earlier this year awarded over $11 million in additional state funding, bringing the total to $15 million for the 2026 fiscal year.

The Rebuild Alabama Act, overwhelmingly passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor Ivey in 2019, requires ALDOT to establish an annual program setting aside a minimum of $10 million off the top of the state’s share of gas tax revenue for local projects. ALDOT currently sets the Annual Grant program at $15 million per year.

“Good roads make for more jobs, smoother travel and happier Alabamians. That is why improving our infrastructure has remained a top priority of my Administration,” said Governor Ivey. “Through Rebuild Alabama, we are putting dollars where rubber meets the road and delivering real results in all 67 counties. Long after the construction crews pack up, these investments will keep Alabama rolling, moving and growing for generations to come.”

Of the awarded projects, cities and counties also contributed more than $1.3 million in local matching funds. All projects are required to move forward within one year of the awarding of funds.

Since the passage of the Rebuild Alabama Act, ALDOT’s Annual Grant Program has awarded more than $85.7 million in state transportation funding for local projects.
