Apprenticeship Week

Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, registered apprenticeship programs develop Alabama’s workforce by providing opportunities for job-seekers, students and youth to gain skills and secure meaningful employment under the guidance of skilled employers; and
WHEREAS, work-based learning and on-the-job training opportunities increase career options for many Alabamians while also meeting employers’ needs for skilled workers. Many apprentices are training for high-demand careers, which require significant technical skills and direct experience in the field; and
WHEREAS, as more apprentices complete their instruction under skilled employers, they become further prepared, better educated and ready to succeed in their chosen field; and
WHEREAS, many individuals in apprenticeships also earn a wage while completing their on-the-job training and instruction, thus, joining the workforce sooner; and
WHEREAS, the reinforcement of apprenticeship programs helps Alabama strengthen its talent development strategy for high-demand sectors while providing our state with opportunities to bolster economic development and industry leadership nationwide;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the week of November 13th through November 19th, 2017, as
Apprenticeship Week
in the State of Alabama.
Given Under My Hand and the Great Seal of the Office of the Governor at the State Capitol in the City of Montgomery on the 13th day of November 2017.
Kay Ivey
