Safety in the Workplace Week

Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, in 2016, the state of Alabama reported 43 occupational-related fatalities; and
WHEREAS, in 2016, the state of Alabama reported thousands of injuries in the workplace, resulting in worker’s compensation and medical payments of more than $688 million; and
WHEREAS, Alabama employers and employees in the public sector, private industries and businesses recognize the need to safeguard from injuries in the workplace; and
WHEREAS, a safe and healthy workplace ensures the highest work environment possible; and
WHEREAS, this endeavor is worthy of our support and cooperation to reduce the toll of workplace injuries and deaths; and
WHEREAS, labor and industry within the state of Alabama seek to work together to promote workplace safety:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the week of August 28th through September 1st, 2017, as
Safety in the Workplace Week
in the State of Alabama.
