International Alpha Delta Kappa Month

Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, women in education constitute a great portion of the nation’s work force, and are constantly striving to serve their communities and nation through educational, cultural and charitable programs; and
WHEREAS, Alpha Delta Kappa is an international honorary organization of women educators dedicated to educational excellence, altruism and world understanding; and
WHEREAS, Alpha Delta Kappa works to recognize outstanding educators; build a fraternal fellowship among educators, increasing their effectiveness in promoting excellence in education; establish high standards of education; and promote educational and charitable projects; and
WHEREAS, nationally, Alpha Delta Kappa has over 32,000 members in over 1,200 chapters; and Alabama has over 1,100 members in 51 chapters; and
WHEREAS, membership, which is honorary and based on peer recognition, provides a wealth of opportunities for leadership development and networking through workshops, training sessions, conferences and conventions; and
WHEREAS, the greatest opportunity Alpha Delta Kappa provides is the opportunity to make a difference around the world; Alpha Delta Kappa members combine their energies and talents to enrich their lives and the lives of others through thousands of heartwarming, community-based altruistic projects:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the month of October 2017, as
International Alpha Delta Kappa Month
in the State of Alabama.
