College Colors Day

Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, College Colors Day seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that make the university experience great by encouraging faculty, staff, students, alumni and fans to wear apparel of their favorite university throughout the day of September 1, 2017; and
WHEREAS, 14 public universities are located in Alabama, providing exceptional educational opportunities to improve the lives of thousands of Alabamians every year; and
WHEREAS, for more than 190 years, Alabama’s universities have been educating, serving and bettering the lives of citizens in the state of Alabama; and
WHERAS, the universities of the state of Alabama have a long history of collaboration. We specifically congratulate the Higher Education Partnership for its 20th anniversary of promoting the importance of higher education in Alabama; and
WHEREAS, academic and athletic achievement in the state of Alabama provide significant educational opportunities and scholarships to thousands of young men and women; and
WHEREAS, College Colors Day promotes higher education in Alabama through increased public awareness and the celebration of the tremendous economic, cultural and social impact of the universities in our state:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim September 1, 2017, as
College Colors Day
in the State of Alabama.
