Employee Assistance Program Awareness Week

Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, people employed in Alabama are recognized as a most valuable resource to this state; and
WHEREAS, the physical, mental and emotional health of all employees in Alabama is recognized as crucial to the progress of this state; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that all people can be subjected from time to time to such life occurrences that may have an adverse effect on their ability to perform in a productive manner at home, in society and the workplace; and
WHEREAS, these personal concerns can be regarding health, marital, family, alcohol or other drug abuse, emotional, financial, legal or other types of stressful life situations; and
WHEREAS, Employee Assistance programs are recognized as viable and successful mechanisms for providing for prevention, intervention and resolution of such personal concerns; and
WHEREAS, Employee Assistance programs are confidential, and employees are assured that they shall privately, without fear of their personal concerns being exposed; and
WHEREAS, Employee Assistance programs provide assessment, referral, educational and follow-up services free of charge to employees and their family members; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that Employee Assistance programs are instrumental in the significant reduction of such personal and economic losses and absenteeism, tardiness, on-the-job injuries, disabilities, workers’ compensation, job termination and overall lowered productivity; and
WHEREAS, Employee Assistance programs are recognized as vital assets to the State of Alabama:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the week of May 1st through May 5th,, 2017, as
Employee Assistance Program Awareness Week
in the State of Alabama.
