Dedication Day of the Alabama National Cemetery Blue Star Memorial Marker
Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, The Blue Star Memorial Marker was adopted by the National Garden Clubs, Inc., of America as a living tribute to the men and women of the Nation’s Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that total and complete recognitions and honors be accorded the services and sacrifices of our citizens which was so valiantly rendered; and
WHEREAS, The Alabama National Veterans Cemetery, Montevallo, is the final resting place for hundreds, even thousands, of military service veterans of all branches of America’s military services, who have served their beloved Nation bravely and honorably; and
WHEREAS, The National Garden Clubs, Inc., of America; the Alabama Garden Club, Inc.; the Montevallo Evening Garden Club; the Blue Star Salute Foundation, Inc. of Alabama recognizes this dedication and service to America, and encourages the public’s interest and involvement in honoring all those who, after their valiant service to America, are resting at this hallowed final resting site; and
WHEREAS, when we pledge allegiance to the f lag of the United States of America, We Remember! At the sound of Reveille, We Remember, and, as the last lingering note of TAPS resounds in the distance, We Remember! In Remembering today, we dedicate this Blue Star Marker to the honor and recognition of all those men and women who have served, are now serving, and will serve in the future with the Armed Forces of this great Nation:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim April 15, 2017, as
Dedication Day of the Alabama National Cemetery Blue Star Memorial Marker
in the State of Alabama.
