Alabama State Board of Education Meeting
Alabama State Board of Education Meeting
Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
Good morning. It’s great to be here for my first time as we together work on one of the greatest, most impactful topics to our state. Public education is imperative to providing opportunities for all Alabamians. The work you do today – and every day you meet – affects Alabama’s future. It is not just another board meeting. What we do affects nearly every child in our state. Public education is the backbone of Alabama, and it will be given priority in my administration. Without an education, our students cannot grow to become productive citizens and cannot be part of the growth and prosperity of Alabama. The work we do is the foundation for our economic development efforts, our efforts to improve the image of Alabama, and our efforts to create opportunities for all Alabamians. When our students are successful in school, they will be successful in work and that will help attract business. We each want Alabama to be at the top of every list related to education, and it starts here with this Board of Education. We have a great deal of potential and are now moving in the right direction to lead our state into a positive future. You have my commitment that I will work hard every day to support you and everyone in our amazing state. And I want you to work with me, because when we all join together and work toward a common goal, we will win. This truly is the Great State of Alabama, and we will show the world as we move toward growth, prosperity, and opportunity. May God Bless you and May God Bless the Great State of Alabama.
