Alabama High School All-Star Sports Week

Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, the state of Alabama supports the concept of the student athlete and the benefits that athletic programs provide the youth of our state; and
WHEREAS, Montgomery will be the host city for the 21st annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week, July 16th through July 22nd, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama All-Star Sports Week will include nine all-star games in seven sports, including boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, football , softball, baseball, cross country and volleyball; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Summer Conference will be offered during the week to not only the coaches of the previously mentioned sports, but track and field, cheerleading, wrestling, bowling, and golf; and
WHEREAS, the AHSAA Summer Conference will also be offered to athletic directors, principals, and contest officials to enhance instructional and professional development; and
WHEREAS, more than 350 student-athletes and more than 4,000 coaches, administrators, and officials are expected to participate in the week’s activities: and
WHEREAS, the activities will culminate in a sports competition between the northern and southern regions of the state:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim July 16th through July 22nd, 2017, as
Alabama High School All-Star Sports Week
in the State of Alabama.
