Governor Riley Vetoes House Bill 222
5/9/2008 - MONTGOMERY - Governor Bob Riley vetoed a bill Thursday that would put unnecessary mandates on school boards when they hire superintendents and the chancellor of the two-year college system. The mandates in the bill would also apply to the hiring of two-year college presidents.

Governor Riley Observes Day of Remembrance Ceremony for Holocaust Survivors
5/5/2008 - MONTGOMERY- Governor Bob Riley on Friday joined Alabamians who survived the Holocaust for a Day of Remembrance Ceremony at the State Capitol. The Governor presented a proclamation declaring April 27 through May 4 as Days of Remembrance to Max Herzel of Birmingham, a Holocaust survivor and a member of the Alabama Holocaust Commission.
