“Alabama’s economy remains the
envy of our region. To keep the progress going and weather this national slowdown,
we need targeted tax relief that will boost our economy and give Alabamians more
control over
their own money.”
- Governor Bob Riley
During the past five years, Alabama’s economy
has experienced unprecedented growth
with more than 120,000 new jobs created statewide. Just last year, Alabama announced
441 new and expanding industries which are investing an historic $6.7 billion in
our state. Unemployment reached its lowest level in history in 2007 and personal
incomes are rising at a rate faster than any other Southern state.
To ensure Alabama’s progress continues, Governor Riley is proposing tax relief that
will target middle class families and promote small business growth.
