James Allen (Jim) Main is currently serving as Director of Finance for the
State of Alabama. Previously, he served as Senior Counsel to Governor Bob Riley. Prior
to that, he served as Chief of Staff and Legal Advisor for Governor Fob James from
1997-1999. His prior public service includes terms as an Anniston City Attorney,
Lineville City Judge and City Attorney for Oxford, Alabama.
In 1972, Main began the private practice of law in Alabama with Burnham, Klinefelter, Halsey and Love
in Anniston. During his years in Anniston, he served on various boards and commissions
and was named Outstanding Young Man of Anniston in 1975.
In 1989, Main moved to
Montgomery as a shareholder with the firm of Haskell, Slaughter and Young, P.C.
and subsequently practiced as a shareholder in Beasley, Wilson, Allen, Main and
Crow, P.C. During the active practice of law, he handled numerous precedent setting
cases before the Alabama Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.
Main
is a member of a number of professional organizations including the American, Alabama
and Montgomery Bar Associations, the Montgomery County Inn of Court. He presently
serves as a founding Fellow of the Alabama Law Foundation and he served as the Chairman
of the Dean’s Counsel for the Auburn School of Pharmacy as well as a member of the
Alabama Commission on Higher Education. From 1985 until 1987, Main served as the
President of the American Pharmaceutical Association. He has served as Sunday school
teacher, deacon and short term missionary.
Some of Mr. Main’s awards include: Parke
Davis Leadership Award; The Bowl of Hygeia; Distinguished Alumnus Award Auburn University
School of Pharmacy (1984); President’s Award American Society of Pharmacy and Law.
Since moving to Montgomery, Main has been active
in the community. He served on
the Board of Directors for both the Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Plan and
the Alabama College Savings Plan. Mr. Main was a member of the Montgomery and Anniston
Rotary Clubs for over 20 years.
Mr. Main received a B.S. degree in pharmacy from
Auburn University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Alabama.
