Doni Ingram brings 27 years of economic and community development
experience to the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs
where she was appointed director by Governor Bob Riley in June 2009. She was ADECA's
assistant director for the previous six years and served briefly as acting director
in 2006.

Her goal as director and assistant director is to improve the lives of all
Alabamians and to help create new jobs, particularly in rural areas. Ingram
serves as executive director of the Black Belt Action Commission, which was created by Gov. Riley in 2004 to improve living standards in 12 of Alabama's most economically-stressed counties.

At ADECA she also has chaired the Workforce Development Youth Council and the Governor's Alabama Youth Task Force.

A Troy native, Ingram established and served as executive director of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce. She also created and managed the Crenshaw County Economic and Industrial Authority. In both positions she was instrumental in recruiting new industry and helping in the expansion of existing businesses. She has been a member of the Alabama Prepared Cities state team and the Economic Developers Association of Alabama.

While industrial development remains a passion, her service on numerous boards reflects her ranging interest in improving Alabama and making the state a better place to live. She has served on the
Alabama State Textbook Committee, the Alabama Association of School Boards, the Alabama Reunion Committee, the Governor's Advisory Council for Small Business, the Alabama Attorney General's Alliance Against Drugs Task Force, the city of Troy Board of Education, and served as project coordinator for the Alabama Film Commission.

Ingram attended Troy University, the University of Georgia, Georgia Technical Institute and the University of Oklahoma, all in economics, organizational management, and community and economic development. She also is a graduate of the National Development Council, Finance Professional school.

Ingram is married to Maj. Gen. (Ret. USAR) Charles A. Ingram and they have four grown children:
Chuck, Rhea, Morgan and Lawrence and six grandchildren: Alex, Austin, Romie, Carter, Riley and Cam. The Ingrams are active members of the Troy United First Methodist Church.
