Jeff Emerson joined the Riley Administration as Communications Director in Dec. 2003. Emerson worked in Washington, D.C. for 10 years before coming back to Alabama in 2002. In Washington, Emerson served as Chief of Staff and Press Secretary to Congressman Spencer Bachus (R-AL). Prior to working for Congressman Bachus, Emerson was Press Secretary and Legislative Assistant to former Congressman Buddy Darden (D-GA). Emerson was Deputy Director of the Alabama Association of Realtors in 2003.

He graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Alabama in 1991.
