Governor Riley appointed General A.C. Blalock as Adjutant General of the Alabama National Guard on August 22, 2007.

Prior to his appointment, General Blalock served as Commander of the 167th Theater Sustainment Command, a Theater level headquarters with more than 400 personnel assigned providing operational logistical command and control. He was commissioned in March 1971 after completing ROTC at Virginia Military Institute and Auburn University. He has held five different commands in the Alabama National Guard, including Commander of an Infantry Company, a Heavy Support Battalion, an Area Support Group and Chemical Brigade.

Gen. Blalock has been awarded numerous awards and decorations, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.

He is a 1971 graduate of Auburn University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He is a 1981 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he earned a master’s degree in Business Administration, and a 1997 graduate of Army War College.
