Walter Bell is a respected insurance professional who has held some of the highest
positions in the industry.
He is the retired vice president for diversity marketing for the MONY Group, a life
insurance company that was founded in 1842 as the Mutual Life Insurance Company
of New York. In that role, Bell was based in New York and was responsible for ensuring
the MONY Group’s field force reflected the diversity of the markets served by the
company and the communities where its people lived and worked.
Bell joined the company as a financial professional in 1983, was promoted to site
manager of the Mobile office in 1990; to national director of emerging markets in
1996, and assumed his vice president position in 1999.
Active in the industry, Bell served as chairman of the Diversity Marketing Committee
of the Life Insurance Marketing Research Association and is a former member of the
National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the Alabama Association
of Life Underwriters. During his sales career, he was a member and past president
of the Mobile Association of Life Underwriters.
He has extensive community involvement and serves on the national board of trustees
of the Boys and Girls Club of America and the board of directors of the New York
City United Way. In addition, Bell is a trustee of Mobile’s Senior Bowl Game and
holds a partnership interest in the city’s AA minor league baseball team, the Mobile
Bay Bears.
Bell graduated from Spring Hill College and serves on the school’s board of trustees.
